The Child Health Chair, considered the beginning of Hacettepe Medical Faculty, was affiliated to Ankara University Medical Faculty on February 2, 1954. Dr. It was founded by İhsan Doğramacı.

He started to work in Hacettepe in 1957 as Hacettepe University, Institute of Child Health and Hospital, and in 1958 he started education, training, research studies, and public service. The School of Health Sciences, which provides education in the fields of Nursing, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in 1961, and Nutrition and Dietetics in 1962, was established. In 1963, Hacettepe School of Health Sciences was transformed into a Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the School of Basic Sciences, Nursing, Physiotherapy-Rehabilitation, Medical Technology, and Health Technology was reorganized under this faculty, and a School of Dentistry was also affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Hacettepe Science Center and Hacettepe Medical Center were established in 1965 to ensure the coordination of Hacettepe University educational institutions in 1965, and Hacettepe Medical Center Hospital was opened in the same year.

The core organizations that are organized and developed in this way were transformed into Hacettepe University with Law No. 892 of 08 July 1967 and started education with the Faculties of Medicine, Health Sciences, Science, and Social Sciences. The School of Home Economics was established in 1968 and Pharmacy and Dentistry, established as a college in 1969, became a faculty in 1971. Growing up with new departments and faculties established in the following years, Hacettepe University established its second campus in a 1500 hectare area in Beytepe, 20 km from the central campus.

Hacettepe University; It continues its activities with 15 Faculties, 15 Institutes, 2 Schools, 1 Conservatory, 4 Vocational Schools, 98 Research and Application Centers.
