Bahçeşehir University

Bahçeşehir University is a foundation university opened by the Bahçeşehir-Uğur Education Foundation in 1998. The university, which was first established in the Bahçeşehir district of Istanbul, moved to the district of Beşiktaş with all its faculties in the 2006-2007 academic year.

There is mobility that starts early in the day and lasts almost full day in Beşiktaş's main campus on the edge of the Bosphorus. Moreover, you can come across an event at almost every point in the university.

The first thing that catches your eye when you enter through the door of BAU will be the high number of foreign students at our university. More than a thousand foreign students are studying in BAU from wide geography extending from the United States to China, from France to South Korea. When you ask why they prefer BAU, the answers are the same: “Central location and international power”. The location of BAU is obvious. In order to understand your international studies, it will be enough to take a short tour of our university campus or on our website.

BAU offers its students a chance to study in many different parts of the world through various agreements and collaborations. Moreover, it does this in cities where there are BAU Global member institutions such as Berlin, Toronto, Washington DC, Batumi, Cyprus, Hanoi, Kyiv, Pueblo, Brockville. The “International Office” unit provides all the support for the students who want to continue their education at BAU Global campuses. In BAU, you have the opportunity to take a course related to your department in Istanbul or Berlin, Batumi, or in the institutions of the BAU Global Education Network in Washington DC. You also have the opportunity to apply to BAU's summer programs abroad towards the end of each academic year. Moreover, BAU Global's summer programs abroad are open not only to our own students but also to students from all over the world!

Getting to BAU is very easy. Located in the heart of Istanbul, Beşiktaş Kuzey, Beşiktaş Güney, Göztepe and Galata campuses provide free transportation to our students and academicians with our own boats. It is possible to reach our other campus in Galata with a pleasant journey with these boats departing from our pier in Beşiktaş at certain times of the day. Thus, our students can move from campus to campus by getting sea air without getting caught in heavy Istanbul traffic. Our campus in Galata hosts the studies of the Faculty of Communication, especially in the new media field. There are many workshops from digital media to tablet broadcasting, from digital game workshops to the news desk where the basics of journalism are learned.

Programs at BAU are organized not only for students but also for graduates and graduate candidates. The BAU family, which grows year after year with the year-round training and events organized by our Alumni Office, maintains strong ties even after graduation.
